Guidelines For Students and Parents

GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS:

·        If your child calls or texts you from their cell phone that they do not feel well, please encourage them to go to the nurse.  Otherwise, if you come to pick them up from school, it is considered an unexcused dismissal.  Anytime a student comes to see me and asks to talk to a parent, I ALWAYS allow them to call you from my school phone.

·        If your child has a fever above 100 F, or has vomiting/diarrhea, it is Harford County Public Schools practice that the child must go home.  Your child may return to school once they have been fever-free over 24 hours WITHOUT acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or other fever-reducers.  The last episode of vomiting or diarrhea must have ended for at least 24 hours before returning to school, as well.

·        If your child is injured and requires a cast, splint, crutches, etc., and/or has activity restrictions, we require a doctor’s note excusing them from physical education.  Parents may write a PE excusal for three consecutive PE classes, otherwise the note MUST be from a doctor.  If the doctor’s note states “NO PE UNTIL SEEN BY A SPECIALIST”, we will not allow the student to participate in PE until we receive a note from the specialist stating the student is cleared to participate.
